We Buy Local

When you buy books from us, you're not only supporting our bookstore, you're supporting the other local businesses.  We support local St. Louis publishers and order supplies and services locally to reinvest in the St. Louis economy.

Here are some of our community partners.

Local sources for books and merchandise

Amphorae Publishing Group  was created in 2014 from the merger of Blank Slate Press (founded in 2010) and Walrus Publishing (founded in 2007).  Located on Hartford Street here in St. Louis city, Amphorae has worked with authors across the United States to publish titles across a wide range of genres. Amphorae is a woman and veteran owned business.

Reedy Press Reedy Press specializes in local interest titles for the trade market AND custom and commemorative titles for schools, communities, and cultural institutions.

Local Supplies and Services

Baisch & Skinner  This wholesale floral distributor is based on "flower row" (LaSalle street) in St. Louis and has several locations in throughout Missouri, Illinois and Kansas.

The Barcode Lady "From printers to pre-printed labels, and scanners to ribbons, we stock a full array of barcode supplies to make sure your inventory, POS or manufacturing can carry on without a hitch."

The Done Dept.  Forget online printing.  These folks can do anything.  We've asked them for everything from business cards to multipage calendars.  They get it done, no matter what.  Located in South St. Louis on Hampton Ave, their staff will help design, photoshop, print, fold and produce pretty much everything in every size.  We love them.

HAMCO  There are never enough receipt rolls for the register.  At least that's the problem we hope to have.  HAMCO, located in Maryland Heights offers excellent pricing and local service.

Heuer Locksmiths Located just north of Delmar on Kingshighway in the Fountain Park neighborhood, Heuer Locksmiths are no-nonsense, professional locksmiths.  They've been in business since 1924.  We use them for our many key making projects, but these folks can help with pretty much any lock.

Interiors in Green  Like the look of our store?  A lot of credit goes to our friends at Interiors in Green whose staff takes care of the plants you see hanging in the windows and around the store.  We have a long history with them going back to their beginning in 1977 - the same year we moved to our location on Euclid and McPherson.

Kampe Supply (314) 531-9672 has been in St. Louis for 80 years in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood.  We buy our paper bags from them.

Kingsbury Animal Hospital has been our go to vet for our bookstore cats.  Spike graces them with his presence as the need arrives.  Compassionate and dedicated, these folks are located on Skinker in University City.

New Market Hardware is a 100 year old independent hardware store located in the Central West End.  It's a sentimental favorite, but make no mistake, this is no struggling shop.  They offer pretty much everything.  Their tagline is "If it's hardware, we have it!"

Oreck - Ok, granted Oreck isn't a local company, but they have excellent local stores including the one we frequent in Ladue. They employ knowledgeable people who can repair and replace parts on your vacuum or sell you a new one.  We recommend the company for its high standards AND the for its dedication to its community and its workers.  See what they did with their headquarters in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Pedro's Planet is a world class office supply and recycling company dedicated to environmentally friendly practices.  They have 42 distribution centers and donate money from selling waste paper to paper mills to the communities in which they serve.  Responsible, reliable and friendly.

Red Brick Management's office is on the third floor of our building, which makes our landlord, tenant relationship really convenient.  They value our store and are committed to our presence on the corner of Euclid and McPherson.

Stitz & Associates Employee benefits anyone?  Stitz & Associates ushered us into the ACA era and has provided stellar support for our insurance needs.  We can't recommend them highly enough.  They're located in Kirkwood and are top notch insurance brokers for companies as well as individuals.

Store Supply Warehouse has a few warehouses across the country, but their headquarters are in Bridgeton.  Their focus is on wholesaling fixtures, materials and other logistic necessities to small independent retailers at prices that are affordable even when you don't need tens of thousands of units.

Straub's Who needs a national chain when you have a perfectly good local alternative that's been serving the Central West End, Clayton, Town & Country and Webster Groves since 1901?  We visit our Central West End Straub's at least once a week for event and meeting supplies.
