Vedran Husic, Basements and Other MuseumsLeft Bank Books welcomes award-winning author and University of Missouri PhD candidate Vedran Husić, who will sign and discuss his short story collection, Basements and Other Museums!

Winner of the St. Lawrence Book Award from Black Lawrence Press and longlisted for the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize for Debut Fiction, Basements and Other Museums cycles in and out of the tumultuous history of the Balkans—more specifically, Vedran Husić’s Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he was born. These are stories rooted in place and the loss of that place, stories anchored in the wars of the 1990s as much as in the Bosnian diaspora, where characters live in the present day in places like suburban Phoenix, Arizona, and wrestle with their inherited histories of violence. Basements and Other Museums marks the debut of a crucial new voice in contemporary fiction.

"In an age of conformity, this is a writer who boldly stands apart." —Matthew Neill Null
