Commissioned to write an article about making a perfect baguette, Sam Fromartz set off on an adventure to bakeries in Paris, California, Oregon, Vermont, Berlin and New York to hone not just his homemade French loaf—which later beat out professional bakers to win “Best Baguette of D.C.”—but his knowledge of bread, from seed to table. In Search of the Perfect Loaf is part travel memoir, part agricultural and food history, and part cookbook with scrumptious recipes for various levels of skill. Sam will be in conversation with Companion Bakery founder Josh Allen.
This event will feature a tasting of breads and pastries from Companion Bakery.
