River Styx Reading Series Presents: Kathryn Davis, Alison C. Rollins, & Jeffrey Thomson

River Styx, Davis, Rollins, ThomsonRiver Styx cultivates the literary arts in St. Louis and beyond through its magazine and community programs.The River Styx Reading Series is their main recurring event during the fall, winter, and spring, in which they invite both local and national acclaimed writers to read their work for a St. Louis audience.

Alison C. Rollins, born and raised in St. Louis city, currently works as a librarian for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a 2019 National Endowment for the Arts Literature fellow. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in American Poetry Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Meridian, Missouri Review, The Offing, Poetry, The Poetry Review, River Styx, Solstice, TriQuarterly, Tupelo Quarterly, Vinyl, and elsewhere. A Cave Canem and Callaloo fellow, she is also a 2016 recipient of the Poetry Foundation’s Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship. In 2018 she was the recipient of a Rona Jaffe Writers Award. Her debut poetry collection, Library of Small Catastrophes, was published in 2019 by Copper Canyon Press.

Kathryn Davis is the author of eight novels, the most recent of which is The Silk Road (2019). Her other books are Labrador (1988), The Girl Who Trod on a Loaf (1993), Hell: A Novel (1998), The Walking Tour (1999), Versailles (2002), The Thin Place (2006) and Duplex (2013). She has received a Kafka Prize for fiction by an American woman, both the Morton Dauwen Zabel Award and the Katherine Anne Porter Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2006, she won the Lannan Foundation Literary Award. She is the senior fiction writer on the faculty of The Writing Program at Washington University.

Jeffrey Thomson grew up in St. Louis. He is a poet, memoirist, and translator and is the author of multiple books including Fragile, Birdwatching in Wartime, The Complete Poems of Catullus, and From the Fishouse. His newest collection of poems is The Belfast Notebooks. He has been an NEA Fellow and a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar as well as the Hodson Trust John Carter Brown Fellow at Brown University. He is a professor at the University of Maine Farmington.

Readings start at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month. $5 general admission. $4 students and seniors. This event is presented by River Styx. For more information, please visit riverstyx.org.
