River Styx cultivates the literary arts in St. Louis and beyond through its magazine and community programs.The River Styx Reading Series is their main recurring event during the fall, winter, and spring, in which they invite both local and national acclaimed writers to read their work for a St. Louis audience.
Erika T. Wurth’s publications include a novel, Crazy Horse’s Girlfriend, two collections of poetry, and a collection of short stories, Buckskin Cocaine. Her most recent novel You Who Enter Here was published by SUNY. A writer of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, she teaches creative writing at Western Illinois University and has been a guest writer at the Institute of American Indian Arts. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous journals including Boulevard, Drunken Boat, The Writer’s Chronicle, Waxwing, and The Kenyon Review. She is represented by Peter Steinberg. She is Apache/Chickasaw/Cherokee and was raised outside of Denver.
Shane Seely directs the MFA program at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. He was born in 1972 along the Grand Army of the Republic Highway, beneath a sky draped by the Milky Way. He was educated in Pennsylvania and Kansas before attending the MFA program at Syracuse University, where he met his wife. In 2002, they moved to St. Louis, and Shane began teaching as an adjunct. He joined the UMSL faculty in 2012. He and his wife live in the picturesque suburbs of St. Louis with their daughter and dog.
