Left Bank Books
Left Bank Books welcomes award-winning journalist Katherine Reynolds Lewis, who will sign and discuss her new book, The Good News About Bad Behavior: Why Kids are Less Disciplined Than Ever—And What to Do About It, with columnist Aisha Sultan!
Today's parents live with an exhausting reality: persistent defiance from children. About half of the current generation of children will develop a mood or behavioral disorder or a substance addiction by age eighteen. And many parents feel increasingly unable to exert any influence over their children. In this book, journalist and parenting expert Lewis proposes a radical solution: empathy. As she journeys from parenting seminars to neuroscience labs to schools to the homes of modern parents, Lewis documents a crisis of self-regulation—and shows how children rise to the occasion when their parents train them in the art of self-control.
"An absolute must-read for anyone raising or teaching 'difficult' children, and insightful to anyone eager to teach kids how to regulate their own behavior and ultimately thrive in society on their own." —Julie Lythcott-Haims, How to Raise an Adult
This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of The Good News About Bad Behavior from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.
