Jeanine Cummins & Carolyn Turgeon

An Indie Next List pick, The Outside Boy by Jeanine Cummins is a poignant novel of an Irish gypsy boy's childhood in the 1950s. Jeanine Cummins's first book was a memoir, A Rip in Heaven, in which her family dealt with the aftermath of a violent crime that occurred at Chain of Rocks Bridge just outside of St. Louis. Carolyn Turgeon, who plays the accordian and bellydances in her spare time, is the author of Rain Village about a trapeze star in a traveling circus, Godmother: The Secret Cinderella Story, and her newest novel, Mermaid, which is a retelling of the original little mermaid story.
