St. Louis Public Library - Schlafly Branch
Left Bank Books and the International Institute welcomes authors Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin and illustrator Giovanna Rigano, who will sign and discuss their new children's graphic novel, Illegal!
Ebo's sister left months ago. Now his brother has disappeared too, and Ebo knows that to see them again, he must follow in their footsteps and make the hazardous voyage from Ghana to a safe haven in Europe. So the twelve-year-old sets off on an epic journey that takes him across the Sahara Desert to the dangerous streets of Tripoli, and finally out to the merciless sea. Powerful and timely, this graphic novel brings to life Ebo's unquenchable hope for a new life in the face of daunting and perilous obstacles.
The International Institute of St. Louis has requested and will be collecting donations of umbrellas, shampoo, and wall calendars for refugees at this event! Left Bank Books will have a limited selection of calendars and umbrellas for purchase at the St. Louis Public Library.
Share why you're excited for this event on social media using the hashtag #IllegalSTL and you'll be entered to win one of five exclusive art prints signed by the authors and illustrators!
"Moving and informative, Illegal puts an unforgettable human face to the issue of immigration; it is recommended for all readers of middle school level or higher."
