Just in time for the Fall Classic, Jerry Mileur will be in the store speaking about his new book, The Stars Are Back: The St. Louis Cardinals, the Boston Red Sox, and Player Unrest in 1946. As the St. Louis Cardinals and the Brooklyn Dodgers battled for the National League pennant, there was another battle behind the scenes. When the threat of unionization loomed and the Mexican League continued to lure players away from the United States with lucrative contracts, tensions between players and team owners mounted.

He will be joined by co-author Lisa McCubbin to speak about his upcoming book, Five Days in November, and signing books. Left Bank Books will be selling Hill and McCubbin's previous book, Mrs. Kennedy and Me, and taking pre-orders for signed copies of Five Days in November.

St. Louis County Library This ticketed event is sold out. In this fourth installment of the bestselling series, the Greek and Roman demigods from the Prophesy of Seven must work together to seal the Doors of Death and help Percy and Annabeth escape the Underworld in the process. Rick Riordan will read and answer questions. Each ticket includes a pre-signed copy of House of Hades and there will be additional pre-signed copies available for sale. Rick Riordan will not be signing at the event.

Bob Kohn - A Darwinian Reading of Bill Kohn's Painting

St. Louis author Bob Kohn will be in our Central West End store to discuss his book on the paintings of his brother, St. Louis artist Bill Kohn. Bill Kohn taught at Washington University School of Art for 40 years and his art has been beloved and featured in St. Louis galleries for years. His estate is now housed at the Bruno David Gallery. Bob Kohn's A Darwinian Reading of Bill Kohn's Patining explores Bill Kohn's postmodern aesthetic in an age dominated by Abstract Expressionism.
