Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo was born on March 16, 1988 in Los Angeles, California. Jhené began writing poetry at 6 years old. At 13, she signed to a major record label and began her career as a recording artist. "Jhené Aiko is transforming her pain into poetry."
— People

"Her poetry book, 2Fish, will serve as a healing tool not only for herself but for others."
— The Source

"The entire project is a brave effort by Aiko that will undoubtedly become a source of comfort for those who are looking to share their own personal journeys. 'Writing poetry has always been a form of therapy for me and has helped me get through difficult situations. When no one else understands, out journals can understand,' Aiko said."
— Complex

"Her poetry reads like unfiltered diary entries, like when you had a crush in school but that person never has the slightest clue. There’s talk of getting plastic surgery, and feeling like she’s never enough for anyone or anything. The 29 year-old also fixates on those pubescent inchoate teenage feelings of inferiority. Nonetheless, it’s a collective sentiment even the most beautiful exhibit."
