In her new book of poetry, Virginia Slachman explores light, its different shapes and meanings, as she "creates an atmosphere of irreality populated with real-world things," according to Yahia Lababidi (The Artist as Mystic). In another poem, we find the philsopher Heidegger, Van Gogh, and a dog, in what Allison Funk calls "a richly textured poetry." Slachman is a poet and a teacher of creative writing and literature.
