Celebrate our 41st Birthday with Twain's Feast!

In the winter of 1879, Mark Twain paused during a European tour to compose a fantasy menu of the American dishes he missed the most, made up of some eighty regional specialties.

In the new book, Twain's Feast, food writer Andrew Beahrs retraces Twain's footsteps as he sets out to discover whether the great author's favorite foods can still be found on American tables.

 

In the summer of 1969, a group of activist-minded graduate students paused during their studies to open a bookstore where great writing and provocative ideas could be had.

Today, we celebrate Left Bank Books 41^st birthday with avery special tribute to our homegrown literary giant who, like our bookstore, believed a great meal is the best compliment to a great book.
