What do you think your job is at Left Bank Books?

To wear amusing t-shirts and make people love books as much as I do.

Using only one word, describe yourself.

Introspective

Author you love to hate

Stephenie Meyer for what she put in motion.  I don’t like the Twilight Series.  I have a pretty high tolerance for bad writing, but I couldn’t get past the first chapter when I decided to try the series out.  Every time I hear some new bit of praise for Meyer or her work, my eye starts to twitch in irritation.

What’s your favorite smell?

Fresh baked bread, especially when it has cinnamon in it.

If you had a super power, what would it be?

Either teleportation or flight.

Favorite pair of shoes (past or present):

I had this awesome pair of flip-flops I got from Old Navy once.  They were brown, partly leather, and extremely durable.  They finally wore out about a year ago after several summers of faithful service.

Although this book has been around for a while, it has been a recent discovery for me. It's a great book in many ways, and to me it represents high-fantasy literature at its finest. It's an elaborate tale full of vivid settings and unforgettable characters. And the best part is that it is but the first part in a series. What more can a fantasy book fan ask for?

This was an interesting story based off of the same mythos as the award-winning graphic novel series, Fables. Bill Willingham, author of both the novel and the graphic novel series, skillfully takes elements from some of your favorite childhood stories and then present them in a way that is going to leave you hungry for more. Peter & Max is a surprisingly dark story full of suspense, mysticism, action and adventure.

In my opinion this has to be one of Neil Gaiman's greatest works. It mixes together elements of fantasy, mythology and philosophy into one awesome package. This is one of my all-time favorite books.
